Meet Dr. Michael J. Hiatt

“Why am I a chiropractor?”

“I believe in challenging the conventional wisdom in health care. I believe in the innate potential of our body to heal and maintain itself in a state of wellness and optimal function. I believe that health and wellness considers and respects the physical, chemical, emotional and spiritual elements of our being. I promise to work with you to achieve the results and outcomes you desire.”

I believe in honoring, trusting and respecting the wisdom of your body and your free will to determine the best course of care and treatment for you. That is why I am a chiropractor.”

Chiropractic Education

I’ve been in practice since 1986 after graduating from Cleveland Chiropractic College in Kansas City, Missouri. Born and raised in Ottawa, I practiced for a year in Louisiana before returning home. Together with Doctor Cheri Jung we are Ottawa Chiropractic Clinic.

At Ottawa Chiropractic we enjoy working with all types of patients and practice members. We believe in emphasizing wellness and nerve system function to restore, achieve and maintain optimal health.

On a Personal Note…

Dr. Hiatt is married to Denise and they have two grown children and one grandchild. Denise is a nurse for the Ottawa School District and Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City. Denise is also the Dance and Cheerleading coach for Ottawa High School. Dr. Hiatt is an avid, average golfer and fitness enthusiast who enjoys helping others discover the fun and benefits of participating in sports and exercise activities, not just watching from the sidelines. Dr. Hiatt feels very blessed and thankful to have grown up, lived and worked in Ottawa for almost his entire life and looks forward to continuing his relationship with the community for many more years.

“Thank you for visiting our website and taking the time to read about our practice. I look forward to meeting you and your family. Come join us on the journey to better health by calling our Ottawa chiropractic office at (785) 242-4100 or send us an email”

Meet Dr. Cheri Jung

“I’ve been getting adjusted my entire life! My siblings and I were adjusted regularly. So, growing up we were rarely sick. If we did happen to get sick the first thing we got was an adjustment. Medications were not something we took for the flu or a cold, “Remembers Dr. Cheri Jung. “The body is made to heal itself! The nervous system operates your entire body. So, it only makes sense that if your immune system is compromised you need to get your nervous system checked and your spine adjusted so your body can function at an optimal level and heal itself.”

Chiropractic Education

“I always knew I wanted to be a chiropractor,” Dr. Jung continues. “I loved working at my dad’s (Dr. Larry Matney) office while I was growing up. I was amazed with the results people got and the difference it made in their lives. However, when I went to Kansas State University I switched my major several times and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management. I worked in Dallas, Texas for a few years and decided it was time to fulfill my dream. I enrolled at Cleveland Chiropractic College and graduated in 1995.”

“I studied hard at Cleveland taking all the required courses in anatomy, physiology, x-ray, and diagnosis. The adjusting technique classes were my favorite. I clearly remember the excitement I felt when I gave my first adjustment. Still to this day, giving that first adjustment to a new patient is always exciting and a great experience.”

On a Personal Note…

Dr. Jung is married to Bob, who is a phone technician and part owner of Progressive Communications in Lenexa, Kansas. They have four healthy and regularly adjusted children, twin boys, Dayne and Tate, one daughter, Sutton, and their youngest son, Dante.

“As a family we enjoy hanging out at the Lake of the Ozarks and playing sports. I guess I should clarify that statement,” Dr. Jung smiles. “They enjoy playing sports and I enjoy watching sports. In my free time I love to read, walk, watch movies, and enjoy all kinds of water activities.”

“I enjoy seeing patients of all ages and working with all kinds of conditions at Ottawa Chiropractic Clinic. It is especially rewarding and fun to work with entire families as well as my wellness patients. I strive to treat each patient as a unique individual so that together we can work to meet their health and wellness goals.”

“Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how chiropractic can help improve your every day life. I look forward to meeting you and your family in the very near future. Again, give us a call so we can help you take your first step towards better health.”

Debbie Holstine

“I was unaware that I had scoliosis until I started working at Ottawa Chiropractic Clinic and had my evaluation and x-rays. Through regular adjustments, my scoliosis has not progressed.”

“I’ve been with OCC for a total of 18 years, and am in charge of your insurance and billing. You may also see me covering therapy and the front desk. In my tenure at OCC, I have learned that through regular chiropractic care the body takes care of itself, along with diet and exercise.”

“My husband and I enjoy the great outdoors.”
